Yesterday, the Johnson for Iowa House campaign won two of the three counties in our legislative district, but we could not win the third county, which was the most populated. As a result, we came up short, and statewide our party took a hit, losing even more seats in the legislature.
Thanks to everyone who helped in this campaign. Altogether, we had 150 volunteers, knocked on 20,000 doors, and put up 1,300 yard signs. Also, thanks to those who financially contributed to our cause.
They say in politics that timing is everything. Well, 2008 has proven to be a tough year for Republicans -- and although our campaign gave it our best effort, there were larger forces at work.
In the end, however, I remain committed to the principles that built this nation -- individual liberty, limited government, free enterprise, and traditional values. No matter how much our culture changes, these principles will never change. Thank you and God bless you.
